Huntington Bay Dental for Autism
March 25, 2010
Dr. Adamo has been volunteering his time since last spring to treat several students from NSSA, Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism. Dr. Adamo, as well as his staff, have grown fond of all the students, their families, and the faculty of the school, and so, decided to host their First Annual Wine Tasting Charity Event to raise money for NSSA. The event was held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Dao Restaurant in Huntington and it was a tremendous success! With just over one hundred attendees, an art auction, wine, raffles and prizes, about $10,000 was raised!
A BIG "Thank You" to Dao Restaurant and to all the local merchants who graciously donated raffle prizes!

Dr. Figari goes to Nicaragua
In February 2010, Dr. Figari went with Northport High School student group, "Students for 60,000," to Nicaragua to build houses, teach in their schools, and deliver clothes, school and medical supplies. She was invited to participate as a chaperone by one of her patients, Lisa Perez Flanagan, advisor to "Students for 60k." On this trip, she and the students interacted with Nicaraguans in the most extreme conditions. It was an uprooting experience which made Dr. Figari appreciate what wonderful students there are at Northport High School.

Dr. Antenucci is on the Board of Benefactors for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind Inc. This year, we sponsored another puppy. Huntington Bay Dental donated $100 from every ZOOM Whitening Treatment done from March to June 2009. Our goal was to raise $6,000. On February 17th, Huntington Bay Dental was introduced to Max, the golden retriever/yellow labrador mix that we sponsored. Kay Miller, a patient of ours, went above and beyond in helping to reach our goal, and so, she was given the honor of naming our sponsored puppy.

Huntington Bay Dental in Kenya
This past summer, Huntington Bay Dental continued to support the Madagascar Ankizy Fund, a non-profit fund for the education and health care of Malagasy children. Its goal is to build schools and clinics in remote areas of the island. However due to a "civil war", the trip to Madagascar was canceled . Instead our very own Dr. Figari accompanied the same team to Kenya. This was the first dental mission to Kenya, with hopefully, many more to follow. We are very proud of Dr. Figari.

Dr. Adamo Notarantonio seeks Fellowship Status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
Dr. Adamo recently attended the 23rd annual meeting for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in Atlanta. The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is dedicated to advancing excellence in the art and science of cosmetic dentistry and encouraging the highest standards of ethical conduct and responsible patient care.
The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry's fundamental principle is to promote education. The AACD is the only organization of its kind to offer a postgraduate certificate by application, presentation, and review. It normally takes two to three years to complete all the requirements, but the rewards are well worth the effort. All members are encouraged to pursue accreditation.
With the formation of the Accreditation and Fellowship Programs, the AACD began offering the most stringent and respected postgraduate certification in cosmetic dentistry to both dentists and laboratory technicians. Accreditation, The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, and AACD's cutting-edge Annual Scientific Session have solidified the Academy's position as the leading cosmetic dental organization in the world. AACD members are recognized as professionals dedicated to constant improvement of their skills and knowledge, and to making the life-changing benefits of cosmetic dentistry available to more people every year.
Beginning at next years 24th annual conference to be held in New Orleans, Dr. Adamo will begin his quest for the highly prestigious honor of accredited member.
Meet Dr. Adamo's new friends....
Dr. Adamo volunteered his time and skills for 3 weeks during the summer of 2008 traveling to Madagascar to provide dental care in conjunction with a group of health care professionals from Stony Brook University. Most of the patients were children who traveled great distances to seek dental care for the first time ever. Dr. Adamo was quite moved by the entire experience and is hoping to return on an annual basis.Be sure to ask us to see the rest of his photo's when visiting our office.
